Angela is one of the most driven people I know. Her randomness is consistently consistent. She is that friend who invades without being intrusive and provides comfort without being overbearing. What I love most about her are the same things she loves about herself: her humor, resilience, perseverance, and ability to visualize, realize, forgive, and love. This is a woman who can give me that aggravating nudge or face-cramping laugh just when I need it. We can go months without a call or a hug, but when we do, she manages to brighten the darkest clouds away with the same greeting, Hey Val, my favorite pal!
Angela calls Huntsville home but is from the historically rich Selma. She comes from a close-knit family whose mantra is we all we got. She says Family is Family, and our closeness evolved by loving each other regardless, laughing hard, and working through family foolishness. The bond between her and her sister is so endearing. And the way they care for their parents is very noble.
Angela is currently a senior integrated planner; she was a media buyer before that. This rise is evidence of her skill and determination. Her drive comes from her purpose and legacy and a strong conviction of who God created her to be. She firmly believes your life will SPEAK for itself when you leave this world. She states I work to write the words of what will be said when I’m gone…I know that it may sound dark, but it isn’t. I call it living backward. Your legacy is the footprint you leave in the world…in the sweet words of Beyonce, I want the world to know ‘I was here.’
With a range of influencers, from God and her mom to Tamron Hall, Angela pulls on their words of encouragement, love, and forgiveness spoken to and over her. She can look back at her younger self to motivate her future self. This is how she evolved her Girl Talk to She Speaks. Angela discusses what Girl Talk was and the movement toward She Speaks:
Proverbs 31:26 says, She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness. SHE.SPEAKS. is a revised and refreshed version of “Girl Talk”. In “Girl Talk” we talked, but now we are decreeing, declaring; now WE SPEAK. SHE. SPEAKS. is a God inspired conversation that ultimately declares the end from the beginning, regardless of our circumstances, we declare a good end. We share our life experiences, challenges, victories, testimonies and SPEAK our declarations. One God inspired conversation can produce an idea or thought that can reroute the course of your life.
SHE. SPEAKS. is about life saving, life changing, life revitalizing and gift stirring conversation.
SHE. SPEAKS. Came about out of the womb of a previous ministry I had called “Girl Talk”. “Girl Talk” was a conversation ministry I started around 2010. It had a strong run for about three years and then due to the season God called me to it went quiet. The seasons passed and God later gave me a renewed vision of not only a stronger voice, but a deeper conversation…HE called it SHE. SPEAKS. SHE. SPEAKS. is the grown woman version of a conversation, “Girl Talk”. SHE. has now experienced a little bit more in life than her ‘girl’ days.
The goal/evolution and end result of SHE.SPEAKS. Is to create life changing conversation that could change the course of at least one woman’s life. I’m a believer of that ‘ ONE GOD’ inspired conversation can completely change your trajectory. I hope that SHE.SPEAKS. Creates a positive impact on the conversation(s) of ‘Girls Talking’. My hope and pray is that ultimately SHE.SPEAKS. Will develop into a universal conversation positioned where the whole world can hear and interact.
Angela’s words to the next generation: Be relentless in finding who you are, whose you are, what you are called to/for, whom you are called to (not only for a lifetime but each day/week/month/year…season). Be relentless in living your truth, being authentic, creating change, and leaving your footprint.
